Traveling to and around Destin

Getting to Destin is an easy drive from most locations in the Southeast. If you are flying to Destin, you will arrive and depart from Okaloosa Regional Airport (airport code VPS). The airport is located to north of Fort Walton Beach in Valparaiso. There are direct flights available from both Atlanta and Dallas. Delta, Northwest and US Airways all fly to this airport.

You won't get lost in Destin if you're here for the beach! But if you're trying to find some place specific, detailed directions will come in handy. Remember that the Emerald Coast Parkway is known to the locals as Highway 98 and it goes from the Destin Bridge to Panama City Beach. In the Harbor Area, Hwy 98 is named Harbor Blvd. From Airport Road East to SanDestin the street is named Emerald Coast Parkway, but it is all the same road.... Hwy 98. Street numbers get higher as you travel east from the bridge to the Walton County line. Scenic Highway 98 East, also known as Old Hwy 98, parallels Highway 98 and goes along the beach from Henderson Beach to close to Sandestin.
